The SaeboFlex Orthosis is part of the Functional Tone Management Arm Training Program. For detailed information about the device and program please visit www.saebo.com, or contact us at the clinic. This program can help patients after stroke or brain injury, even if the disability is years old. This device can assist a person with right or left arm and hand weakness due to a neurological injury, to regain some hand and arm function. We can screen potential patients to find out if the person is a candidate for the program, then we can work with the patient and doctor to implement the program and order the device. This device is covered by Medicare and many other insurances. The manufacturing company contacts the insurance for detailed coverage information and authorization prior to constructing the device. The comprehensive program consists of working with the device both here in the clinic, and once the patient is trained, at home as well. Usual treatment times in the device are 45 minutes at a time. Usually a patient who was not able to grasp and release a ball without the device, can usually begin grasping and releasing exercises within the first treatment session with the device. Patients can usually see a reduction in tone and an improvement in arm function in a few weeks with consistent and regular use of the device in the clinic and at home.
